We are responsible for a wide variety of functions within the City of Brewer, which include, but not limited to: street maintenance and repairs, i.e. sweeping, pavement repairs, and pothole patching; sidewalk maintenance and repairs; storm phlebotomize maintenance and repair; snow removal on roads and sidewalks; sign maintenance, repairs and replacement; pavement markings at intersections and crosswalk painting all virtually the City; and small scale construction projects. We provide construction support to all other City departments and co-administer paving projects with Engineering. David Cote, Director of Public Works Not only are we responsible for keeping the roads in good working order, we are responsible for a number of other functions: Brewer Landfill: Landfill hours, including the compost area, will be the first and third Saturday of each month from 7:30am to 2:00pm. The compost and skim areas only will be unshut every Tuesday from 7:00am to 11:30am for residents to waif off grass clippings, leaves and brush. Vehicle Maintenance:  Randy Stubbs, Shop Foreman, oversees two mechanics that maintain all City-owned vehicles and equipment in all City Departments. We moreover provide after-hours emergency repairs to City plow equipment during snow storms. Purchasing:  Ricci More, Purchasing Agent, tracks all fuel usage and maintenance for City equipment. He is responsible for purchasing supplies for the Public Works Department and other departments. Ricci moreover readies bid documents for replacement equipment, and maintains files on City equipment, withal with a variety of other tasks. Sewer Line Maintenance:  Two SSES (Sewer System Evaluation Study) Technicians work out of the Public Works Department in conjunction with Waste Water Pollution Control, cleaning and inspecting sanitary sewer lines through the City. Spring Cleanup:  During the month of May, the City typically provides a curbside hodgepodge service for brush, white metal/metal, and leaves. Information on Spring Cleanup’s program is usually posted in April and can be found here. Leaf Collection:  Twice a year, the City gives residents of Brewer the opportunity to wipe up leaves from their property and have them hauled yonder at no charge.  The spring hodgepodge takes place at the whence of May, withal with the Spring Cleanup program, and then in mid-November.
